Dr. Samuel U. Rodgers believed that health care was a basic human right. His vision to ensure quality, accessible care regardless of ability to pay led to him founding the health center fifty years ago.

Samuel Rodgers Health Center’s Bounce Back to School 2023 Event in partnership with School App KC
Samuel Rodgers Health Center in partnership with Show Me KC schools, will host its annual “Bounce Back to School” event, aimed at helping local students, grades K -12, prepare for the upcoming academic year, on Saturday, August 12, 2023, from 10 AM – 2 PM. This community-driven initiative not only facilitates access to vital healthcare services but also fosters an atmosphere of support, unity, and enthusiasm among students and their families. The goal of the event and partnership with Samuel Rodgers Health Center and Show Me KC Schools is to positively impact the lives of the community we serve.
At the core of the Bounce Back to School Event is the commitment to promoting health and wellness among students.
Recognizing the importance of a supportive environment for students’ overall well-being, the event incorporates various activities to create a positive atmosphere. The sponsors have music, and entertainment, and will provide lunches for all attendees, making the event an enjoyable experience for children and their families. Additionally, community organizations and local businesses are collaborating with the health center to provide resources, school supplies, and backpacks, which helped alleviate the financial burden often associated with back-to-school preparations.
The Bounce Back to School Event aims to empower families by offering information on topics and services such as WIC, Behavioral Health, Health Insurance Services, and financial literacy. The community partners’ goal is to equip parents and guardians with the knowledge and resources they need to support their children’s well-being and academic success throughout the school year.
Samuel Rodgers Health Center and Show me KC Schools KC continue to partner with the broader community to make the event successful. Local businesses, nonprofit organizations, and volunteers join forces to make the event a reality. Their support highlights the shared commitment to the community’s well-being and demonstrates the power of collaboration in achieving positive outcomes. Additionally, multilingual staff and volunteers were available to assist diverse communities, breaking language barriers and fostering inclusivity.
The event is open to the community, but registration to receive school supplies is required. Please register Below:
We are looking forward to serving our community again this year!
