In partnership with Nurture KC and the Kansas City Healthy Start Initiative, our Healthy Start Community Health Workers support mothers and their families during and after pregnancy.

Our Healthy Start Community Health Workers can help you sign up for health insurance and find a doctor for you and your baby: Call us today to sign up for our Healthy Start program at 816-889-4767.

    • Provide referral and resource information for you and the father of your baby
    • Connect you to nutrition counseling, breastfeeding support and help you apply for food assistance programs
    • Provide education about safe sleep, lactation, immunizations, and car seat safety
    • Connect you to housing assistance and alcohol and drug abuse resources
    • Gives you parenting education specific to your life and family
    • Help you set goals for a healthy family and lifestyle
    • Refer you to job training programs
    • Connect you with support groups

Program eligibility

  • Healthy Start is a free and voluntary program. 
  • You do not need to be a patient of Sam Rodgers to enroll.
  • We provide help and resources for the entire family, but only the pregnant person can be enrolled in the program, up until the child turns 18 months old. 
  • You must also live in one of the specified zip codes below:

We accept Medicare, Medicaid, and private insurance. If you don’t have insurance, we can help you apply or we will determine a cost based on your income and family size. We will never deny health care if a patient is unable to pay.
