WIC (Women, Infants, and Children)

Sam Rodgers has an award-winning WIC team that is dedicated to helping families thrive! WIC is a federally funded program that provides individualized nutrition education and counseling, nutritious foods, breastfeeding education, and other support.

Nutrition education

Individual nutrition counseling is focused on the specific needs and interests of the family with the goal to help families achieve an overall healthy lifestyle.

Healthy foods

WIC provides free nutritious foods that are high in protein, iron, calcium, and vitamins A and C. Specific foods issued are based on each individual’s category. We offer fresh/frozen fruits and vegetables, eggs, milk, cheese, yogurt, soy milk, tofu, peanut butter, beans, 100% juice, hot and cold cereal, whole wheat bread (pasta, tortillas, and brown rice as well), canned fish, infant cereals, baby food, and infant formula.

Breastfeeding

Sam Rodgers WIC is a federally recognized Breastfeeding Friendly WIC clinic. We promote breastfeeding as the healthiest way to feed babies and all staff at our center have breastfeeding support training. Not only that, but we have after-hours support, a lactation consultant on staff, and a breast pump loan program for those in need of some extra help.
