Dr. Samuel U. Rodgers believed that health care was a basic human right. His vision to ensure quality, accessible care regardless of ability to pay led to him founding the health center fifty years ago.
We're here because we love what we do. Hear from three Sam Rodgers Health Center providers about how they help create a safe space for families.

Originally from Salina, KS, I moved back to Kansas City during the summer of 2020. I completed a BS in microbiology and a BA in Latin American studies at the University of Kansas, with a total of five years experience working in virology laboratories. I’m an Iraq war veteran, deployed in as an Army medic in 2007 – 2008. Prior to medical school, I completed a Masters degree in Public Health at the University of Kansas Medical Center in KC. My capstone work was performed in Haiti following the earthquake of 2010. I completed medical school at the University of Arizona in Tucson and Family Medicine residency at the University of Colorado Denver. In residency, I was excellently trained in the Patient Centered Medical Home model, as well as in strategies for integrating behavioral health into the primary care setting.
Throughout undergrad, MPH, medical school, and residency, I have had a variety of opportunities to work and volunteer in the fields of public health and medicine in the US and Latin America. This ranges from medical mission trips, working at established clinics, acting as sole provider at a migrant shelter on the southern border of Mexico, accompanying a migrant caravan through Mexico, among a variety of other experiences. Along with formal studying, these experiences have allowed me to reach a level of Spanish proficiency needed to conduct visits with Spanish-speaking patients.
In my free time, I love spending time with my wife and our new baby (first-time father), as well as writing and recording songs, virtual reality gaming, gardening, among numerous (probably too many) other hobbies (that I fit in when I can).
I am super excited to be on board at Sam Rodgers in the capacity of Family Medicine certified physician specializing in behavioral health and behavioral health medications. My role will be integral to the integration of behavioral health into the primary care setting, as well as personally providing the highest standard of medical care based on current guidelines, available treatments and individual circumstance.
