Need Help Renewing Your MO HealthNet (Missouri Medicaid) Coverage?
Changes are coming to MO HealthNet, and some be people will begin receiving letters about what those changes mean for their coverage. You do not have to sort through them alone.
Our health insurance services team provides free help to patients and community members. We can help you understand a letter from the Missouri Family Support Division (FSD), update your contact information, complete renewal forms, and understand what action you may need to take.

Notices will start being mailed Aug. 24, 2026.
What do the new community engagement (work) requirements mean to you?
Community Engagement requirements are Missouri's new work requirements for adults in the Adult Expansion Group — ages 19 to 64 covered through Missouri's Medicaid expansion. Beginning January 1, 2027, you will need to meet the requirement each month to keep your coverage, or qualify for an exclusion.
You can meet it by working, doing community service, taking part in a work program, or attending school or training at least half-time — for a combined total of at least 80 hours a month in one of the six months prior to your renewal date. You can also meet it with monthly income of at least $580 (80 times the federal minimum wage). You may be excluded for reasons such as pregnancy, Medicare enrollment, a disability or serious medical condition, caring for a young child or a person with a disability, being a former foster youth under 26, tribal status, a 100% VA disability rating, drug or alcohol treatment, or already meeting SNAP or Temporary Assistance work requirements.
Receiving this notice does not mean your coverage is ending, and it does not require you to take action or send proof to keep your coverage at this time. Read the notice, confirm that your household information is correct, and keep it for your records.
What is changing?
Community Engagement requirements
Adults in the Adult Expansion Group (AEG)—ages 19 to 64 covered through Missouri's Medicaid expansion — will need to report qualifying activity such as work, school, job training, or volunteering, or a valid exemption, to keep their coverage.
Six-month renewals
Beginning January 2027, adults in the Adult Expansion Group (AEG) will renew every six months instead of once a year. All other participants continue to renew once a year.
Some noncitizens may lose MO HealthNet coverage
Lawful Permanent Resident and certain Cuban and Haitian entrants, and COFA migrants can remain eligible. If anyone in your household who was impacted by this eligibility change has adjusted their status to Legal Permanent Resident or US Citizen, please call Sam Rodgers at (816) 889-4797 so that we can help you send copies of your Legal Permanent Resident card or US Passport or Citizenship Certificate to the MO Family Support Division to maintain your coverage.
Retroactive coverage will be shorter
Beginning January 2027, MO HealthNet retroactive coverage will be limited to one month for adults in the Adult Expansion Group and two months for other coverage groups, including children and people with disabilities.
What You Can Do Now
Update your contact information with FSD
Confirm that the Family Support Division (FSD) has your correct mailing address, phone number, and email so you receive every notice. If anything has changed, call us and we will help you update it.
Open every letter from FSD
Some letters are informational; others require action by a deadline. Read each notice carefully so you know whether FSD needs information from you.
Renewing Your Coverage
Watch for your renewal letter
If FSD can renew your coverage with information it already has, your letter will confirm your coverage was renewed. If FSD needs more information, you will receive a renewal form in a yellow envelope in the mail.
Complete and return your renewal by the deadline
If you receive a renewal form in a yellow envelope in the mail: complete, sign, and return it by the deadline in your letter. You can submit it through the FSD Benefit Portal, by phone, by mail, or at an FSD Resource Center.
Missed the deadline? You may still have time
If your coverage closed, you may still be able to return your paperwork and have it restarted. Call us at (816) 889-4797 to talk through your options.
If your coverage changes, your care still matters.
Please do not put off care because your insurance changes or ends. Sam Rodgers is a federally qualified health center (FQHC), which means we serve patients regardless of their ability to pay.
